When I was little, my dad used to take me hiking on small mountains in Taiwan. They were mostly easy to moderate hikes that take about half a day. I enjoyed the nature, the walk, the sweat, and the experience. After moving to California, I had the leisure to do many waterfall hikes around Los Angelse on the weekends. Of course, I also did some interesting hikes when I took road trips, such as the Half Dome in Yosemite National Park and Angel's landing in Zion National Park.
It was not until 2005 that I had the opportunity to train myself and accomplished more challenging hikes, such as Mt. Whitney (14,497 feet) Mountaineering route and Mt. Russell (14,088 feet). Thanks to our leader Jack Chang and our coach Quang Than, who made it possible to finish these most memorable hikes in my life.

I have included here, hiking write-ups by Alex Chen, one of the hiking members in our 2005 Mt. Whintey 1-day hike group. I participated most of the hikes written here as part of the Mt. Whitney training. Please take a moment to read each hiking experience. They are in chronological order. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or Alex.
