Sincere thanks to Chetan, Sangya, and their families, I had the most memorable trip in my life.

Here are some of the highlights from my trip to India:

  • At Jaisalmer, we visited the famous Golden Fort by foot. At night, we took a camel ride into the desert, and stayed in a little hut out in the desert with local people.
  • The elephant ride.
  • Taj Mahal at Agra just took my breath away. I've never felt so captivated by an architecture before...
  • The absolutely astonishing "Jan Temple" in Mount Abu (see picture) offers amazing sandstone carvings throughout the temple.
  • Took the 16 hours bus ride (hell ride) from Bombay to Goa. I don't recommend this. It's much better to take an airplane... Even still, it was an experience that I will never forget!
  • Stayed with Chetan's friends and family in Bombay. Took moped out at night to a carnival and to see the city at night. Ate the best home-made Indian food.

Some notes about India and my trip:

  • To go to India, you must get their travel visa, which costs about 65 bucks. You should also get vaccine. (I had 5 shots) I ate all kinds of delicious food in India and had no problem at all, but it's always a good idea to watch what you eat and drink.
  • I felt pretty safe all around Rajasthan. People were generally very friendly. Though some would follow you around to try to get you to buy stuff from them. Definitely watch our for your wallet and camera in the crowd.
  • Fly in to New Delhi and fly out of Bombay or vise versa when you visit Rajasthan part of India. This will save you a lot of time and the ticket isn't that much more. Although airfare to India from U.S. in December (the best month to go because it's not too hot and humid) can be quite expensive.
  • I would totally skip Goa if there isn't enough time, just because there's a lot more to see in Rajasthan, (definitely, if you are more interested in culture and history than beach) and Goa is a little bit out of the way.
